For all the x-Pats

24 Nov

Happy Thanksgiving! I find it so interesting that here in Israel we (a lot of us) celebrate Thanksgiving. As if we Jewish people don’t have enough of our own holidays where we eat a ton of food and feel stuffed.

But this year was the first time I MADE Thanksgiving. My friend Michal was here visiting her family and friends from the States and we decided to make it ourselves. Take a look at our big birdy… a nice 16 pounder… but the only problem is that Israeli ovens are made a bit smaller than the American counterparts and we did a lot of weight lifting to get the darn bird in the oven and you can bet we forgot about rotating the bird every 1/2 hour.

but the food was great… the company lovely …. a real family meal.
