Luck be a lady tonight

6 May

Last night Eitan and I went to Jerusalem to meet with someone I consider a sister. Actually, she is the sister of the brother from a different mother.

Both of us needed an ATM for cash. I had NIS7 on me and he had about NIS3 and that would not get us to Jerusalem.

So off we went to the closest ATM but there was no money in it. Then we tried another ATM and again no luck. Then we went back to the first ATM and tried taking out the smallest amount possible and guess what, nada. The machine was sucked dry. So we decided to walk t0 Dizengoff Center and (fingers crossed)  withdraw cash. We passed by another ATM and cash machine at AM:PM and both of them were void of cash.

Eitan then suggests the “Tal Muscal” method. Which is.. you take your chances with the lottery. At this point, what else is there to lose and its the closest “cash machine” around. So we walked up to the lottery stand and asked for the NIS5 scratch’n’play. Remember, this is now half of the money we have on us.  The nice older lady hands Eitan the ticket and he starts to scratch. And 3 doves appear under the scratched out part.

WINNER!!!!!

We won NIS100 (a profit of NIS95) and were merrily on our way to Jerusalem. No more ATM hunting in TLV

(PS – We had no problem finding a working ATM in Jerusalem)

Allison’s Visit

12 Apr

I am not yet up for writing a long blogpost about my best friend’s recent visit to Israel but I will share with you some photos from her week here.

We mostly wandered around Tel Aviv (Nachalat Shivah, Neve Tzedek, Yaffo,) and the Old City in Jerusalem.

Plus Allison was here for newest addition to my family – a new niece born an hour before Passover began. Why not make life more interesting, right?
