Today I received an email from Dudy Stark of Nefesh B’Nefesh:
This coming Shabbat, the Torah portion , Shelach, that recalls the sin of the spies, is read. These were the 12 men that Moshe sent to scout out the Land of Israel before entering. When they returned, their reports were distorted and negative and caused a 40 year delay before the Children of Israel could enter.
Today despite the challenges that come with living in Israel, we are witness to all that is good and special about living here and it is in our ability to tell our family, friends and neighbors abroad what those things are.
Nefesh B’Nefesh is initiating a simple project this week called “12 to 12”. We are asking every Oleh to compose a list of 12 great things you appreciate and love about living in Israel and email your message to 12 (or more) friends abroad.
My List of 12 things I love about Israel:
1. Jerusalem….
2.It is a Jewish country
3. My soul feels complete here and when I leave the country a piece of my soul stays behind.
4. Hebrew_language. Hebrew is such a beautiful and poetic language.
5. Hummus from the Shuk and with the whole chickpeas added to the paste.
6. Weather … I love the warm and balmy nights in Jerusalem.
7. IDF soldiers… Jewish soldiers protecting the Jewish homeland.
8. Judean Desert
9. Beit She’An’s archaeological park. I love walking through ancient towns.
10. Beaches in Tel Aviv
11. Golan_Heightsand all the different hikes in that area.
12. Israeli Wine … especially the Tishbi winery.
I am going to take this a step further. I will not only send out my list in an email version but I am also going to TAG the following people:

I just wanted to say that I haven’t done it, but not because I don’t appreciate you tagging me. I just genuinely can’t find 12 reasons I love living here anymore. And the ones I can find are all too intertwined with all the things I hate and I’m trying not to focus on the negative ;-)So meanwhile, I’ll raise a glass to your number 12! Yay Israeli wine!!
